Hidden behind the apparent simplicity there’s actually a unique recipe and matchless know-how. People enjoy orange blossom scented navettes in every way you can imagine – naturally crunchy, slightly reheated or fresh out of the oven. This know-how means that the navettes can be kept for a whole year without affecting their quality at all.
The secret of the Navette du Four’s recipe has been jealously guarded for more than 200 years, with the three different families which have owned it since it first opened (1781) keeping the know-how to themselves, handing it down from one generation to the next.
The vaulted oven, built at the end of the 18th century. It is still in use today and helps to provide the incomparable quality of the navettes - which is all it’s used for.
The Four des Navettes is a part of local cultural heritage, its historic value is well-known in the region. What makes it truly special is the fact that the people love their navettes and the rituals which go with them.
