Although the two teams met regularly in the finals of the World Cup (1998 and 2006), they have not really evolved one over the other at any special event (neither at the Centennial of FIFA nor Tournament of France) since August 26, 1992 when the Brazilians defeated the French 2-0.

Moreover, these two teams are actually quite closely matched and, apart from 5-2 to Brazil in 1958 and 3-0 to France in 1998, scores are often tight. In total, the French and the Brazilians have met 13 times each for 5 wins and 3 draws! However, the five-time world champions have in the past played rather well in France.
